WHY “HAWTHORN”
The name Hawthorn Aero is inspired by Hawthorn Hill, the historic home designed by Wilbur and Orville Wright following their pioneering achievements in powered flight. Completed in 1914, Hawthorn Hill became Orville Wright's lifelong residence and remains one of Dayton's most enduring symbols of aviation innovation. The estate itself was named for the hawthorn trees that covered the property when the Wright family acquired the land.
Headquartered in Dayton, the birthplace of aviation, Hawthorn Aero proudly carries that legacy forward. While the technologies have changed dramatically over the past century, the spirit of engineering ingenuity, practical innovation, and relentless pursuit of better flight continues to define our work. Our name is a tribute to the pioneers who transformed aviation from an idea into an industry, and to the region that continues to shape its future.
