Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive quality assurance program that ensures the highest level of product quality. This role involves developing testing protocols, analyzing production data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a methodical and highly organized professional with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional products.
Key Responsibilities
Quality management system: Develop, implement, and maintain the company's quality management system. Familiarity with Quality Software System QT9 is a plus.
Process and product inspection: Plan and execute inspection and testing procedures for raw materials, in-process components, and final products to ensure they conform to specifications.
Issue investigation: Lead and facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) procedures for product complaints, internal non-conformities, and supplier issues.
Continuous improvement: Use quality tools and methodologies, such as Lean and Six Sigma, to identify areas for process improvement that reduce defects and minimize operational waste.
Supplier quality management: Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure that all incoming materials meet quality standards. Manage supplier metrics and work with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
Documentation and reporting: Create and maintain detailed quality assurance documentation, including inspection reports, control plans, and work instructions. Analyze quality data to prepare summary reports for management.
Collaboration: Work closely with the design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to address quality issues throughout the product lifecycle and provide technical guidance on quality-related matters.
Audits: Support internal and external audits by ensuring readiness and providing necessary quality documentation.
ERP Systems: Familiarity with systems such as EPICOR is a plus.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Quality) or a related technical field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience: Proven experience in a quality-related role, preferably with experience in Aerospace Composites.
Analytical skills: Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills, with experience using tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Technical knowledge: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents. Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA, APQP, and PPAP.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively relay complex, technical information to a diverse audience.
Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail to identify potential flaws and ensure the precise implementation of quality standards.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Industry standards: Working knowledge of industry-specific quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001 and AS9100.
